Curious Kids Read

Curious Kids Read was founded by Hunter Smith in 2012 in Newport Beach, California. It was his mission to recycle gently used and new books to Orange County students in need. He began by recycling his own books and then books from his friends.  The idea grew and neighbors started leaving books for donation on their porches. In 2024 the mission continues and books are still being recycled today.

At Curious Kids, we enjoy reading and we realize how important reading is to education. It came to our attention that many of our local OC elementary students don't have access to books like they should.

Curious Kids started collecting books to donate to in 2012. It was then, that we collected books from our neighborhoods and made our first donation.  Since then, Curious Kids has collected hundreds of books regularly and made school donations. 

Many of the kids at College Park in Costa Mesa, have been without books to take home to read and enjoy, and the teachers need books for their classroom libraries. We have been lucky to have secured a good relationship with College Park Elementary, and over the years we have donated thousands of books to the school and its students.
